Phantasm 2011
Phantasm was one of the very first digital artworks I created, It was made in 2011, and it was the very first time used Corel Painter In conjunction with Zbrush, Cinema 4D and Photoshop.
It is a piece heavily inspired by the works of H.P Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos, which I was both fascinated and obsessed with during my teens. It was much later that I had discovered we had access to these dimensions of dark insanity, and early reckless psychonautical exploration dropped me into these shadow realms. They all turned out to be pivotal life lessons on embracing and acknowledging my shadow side and helping me to put it all into balance.
When making this I was constantly reminded how mantra’s and yantra’s just like anything else are just tools that can used to project both positive and negative outcomes and that it was an incomplete view to assume any symbol as just negative or positive, what makes the difference is how the aspirant makes use of them.
Phantasm was created in about 12 hours with Photoshop, Painter, Cinema 4D, Zbrush
